Project Compassion Ministries would like to thank you for volunteering for our 44th Annual Block Party on Saturday, August 5, 2017. It was a beautiful summer day to celebrate with our seniors, gather on their lawns, entertain and socialize. Project Compassion’s goal was to come together for one purpose: to bring the Love, Compassion and Joy of our Lord to his eldest children! The block party was, once again, a great success and we hope all participating enjoyed it as much as we did.
Our theme for decorations at the nursing homes was “Good Times at the State Fair!” The winners will be announced soon. All five nursing homes were up for the challenge so it will be difficult to select a winner.
Thank you to our sponsors Kitch, Drutchas Attorneys, Mr. and Mrs. J. Stenson, Brian Keith, Michigan Chaplains Association, Absopure and the many donors who helped make this event a success. A special thanks to our community partners, Iroquois Avenue Lutheran Church, The Angel Foundation, Let’s Go Group and ARISE Detroit! for their help making memories for seniors and making a difference in the quality of life of residents living in nursing homes. Thank you ARISE Detroit! for helping to publicize our event in the community. Thank you for our many volunteers and entertainers including the Original DJ, our strolling trumpeter, visitors, dancers, food preparers, bus drivers and clowns.
None of this would be possible without our dedicated staff and their preparation for the event. Iroquois Avenue Lutheran Church, who provided ongoing support for this event, with their attendance, cooking the food, and helping us with setup before and cleanup after the event,
We look forward to begin the planning for our 45th Annual Block Party in 2018 and hope everyone will join us again!
